What drives Calgary prices
Calgary sits where Highway 1 and Highway 2 (the QEII) meet, a highway hub that moves a lot of freight. It is an oil patch service centre and home to corporate energy head offices, so trucks are always rolling through. On diesel, Calgary is usually the cheapest large fill in Alberta. Its position close to the Edmonton area refineries is a big part of why it runs cheap. For a carrier working the southern corridor, Calgary is the fill that makes the numbers work.
